A life-size armored hero sculpture hand-carved in solid wood, built from walnut and chestnut. The subject is a futuristic suit of powered armor — sleek plating, segmented joints, a squared and upright stance — and the interest lies in translating something conceived as polished metal into a material with grain, warmth and natural variation. The result reads as armor, but unmistakably as wood.
Available Heights
- 12 in. and 14 in. — desk and shelf scale
- 23 in. and 31 in. — console or cabinet scale
- 39 in. and 47 in. — freestanding floor sculpture
- 54 in., 66 in. and 78 in. — life-size and architectural scale
The example shown stands at approximately 71 inches. Sizes between the listed heights can be produced on request.
Materials and Finish
- Wood: Sustainable solid walnut and chestnut
- Finish: Protective, non-toxic matte varnish
- Construction: Hand-carved panels and joints, assembled
Panel by Panel
Armor is made of discrete plates, and this sculpture is built the same way: each panel and joint is shaped individually and then assembled, rather than the whole figure being cut from one block. That approach is what produces the crisp shadow lines between plates, and it allows different pieces of wood — with different grain and tone — to be placed where their character suits the panel they form.
Matte Varnish, Not Gloss
A gloss finish on a figure with this much surface detail creates competing reflections that flatten the carving. The matte varnish protects the wood while keeping the shadows clean, so the plating stays legible from across a room.
A Unique Piece
Because the grain of every board differs, no two sculptures are identical. At the larger sizes especially, the variation between panels becomes part of the design.
What is the largest size available?
78 inches is the largest listed height. Larger commissions are possible and quoted individually.
Is it suitable for a gallery or commercial display?
Yes. The finish and construction are specified for luxury residential, executive office and gallery display.
Can a different character or design be carved?
Yes. Send a reference and it can be modeled, reviewed with you, and carved to your chosen height.

🧼 Care & Use Guide for Epoxy and Wood Products
- Especially for pnes with clear epoxy, protect from direct sunlight
- Avoid chemical cleaners. Use a slightly damp cloth for regular cleaning. For fingerprints or stains, you can use glass cleaner or vinegar water. If food spills, gently wipe the area. Leave oily spots if they don’t come off easily — the wood will absorb the oil, and it won’t be damaged.
- To preserve the wood’s color, shine, and durability, apply natural wood oils regularly (2-3 years). They nourish and protect the surface.
- Extreme heat and moisture can damage both wood and epoxy. Never place hot items like teapots or pans directly on the surface — always use a heat-resistant mat.
- When moving or assembling large, heavy pieces, take your time and ask for help to avoid damage.
